We are planning to buy a home in buffalo grove that falls under tripp elementary school. There are other few good schools near by like Ivy hall or Half day. I am really confused how importsnt is the school ranking.

As long as you stay on the Lake County side of BG, all of the schools are excellent and all feed into Stevenson HS. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Thank you so much for your reply
The home we are looking for is in Lake county. Just wondering if there is big difference between Tripp and Ivy Hall or Half Day (for Elementary school) or Aptakisik and Twin Grove or Daniel Wright (for middle school). The later two elementary and middle schools have much higher ranking in schooldigger.com

That's because those two are part of Lincolnshire-Prairie View D103. It's just a little more affluent area than Kildeer on average perhaps, with less total students. Splitting hairs, basically

Look a the IL report cards too.

Twin Groves (and Woodlawn) is in Kildeer District 96, not Lincolnshire 103. Just as affluent as 103 (Daniel Wright) - maybe even more-so (draws from northern BG, Long Grove, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods). Aptakisic is in BG District 102 (covers part of the Lake County side of BG). But you are right.....this is really splitting hairs. All feed into Stevenson for the most part and all prepare students very well for the high level of instruction they will find at Stevenson. This is truly a first world issue and a situation where 96, 102, or 103 and then on to Stevenson would provide as good an education as you will find anywhere in the region. For the OP, Tripp to Meridian, to Aptakisic to Stevenson would be comparable to Prairie to Twin Groves to Stevenson or Sprague to Half Day to Daniel Wright to Stevenson. I would not stress out over splitting these hairs. One thing to note - and I don't think it matters - but these school districts split up which schools are attended by age group differently. District 96 goes from a separate kindergarten to 1-5 elementary to 6 - 8 middle school. District 102 goes from K-4 elementary to 5 - 6 middle school to 7 -8 junior high. District 103 goes from K -2 elementary to 3 - 4 middle school to 5 - 8 junior high. So comparing one school to another is not a simple matter. For example, elementary school means grades 1 -5 in District 96, K - 4 in District 102, and K - 2 in District 103. The final school before high school is a 6 - 8 middle school in District 96, a 7 - 8 junior high in District 102, and a 5 - 8 junior high in District 103.

Hi WJJ,

Thank you so very much for the detail. I really appreciate it.
I was thinking too much about the ranking. I am happy to know that these schools are comparable.
