Default Books on Chicago's Suburbs.

I just finished a fantastic book called "Suburban Nation: The Rise of Sprawl and the Decline of the American Dream." If you haven't read it, check it out.

But I was wondering, can anyone recommend a good book on Chicago's Suburbs? I found a couple but nothing really stands out and am having difficulty finding any.

Thanks...

Yes,

I can recommend many.

Remember that not all suburbs are the stereotypical cookie-cutter cul-de-sac developments that people think about when they hear "suburbs." Chicago like many other cities have communities outside their boundaries with their own history that are called suburbs.

I recommend a book simply titled: Chicagoland. Forgot the author.

Theres one called Chicagos North Shore. Then there is a whole series called "Images of America"
They have short books of all types about individual suburbs and city neighborhoods.

Hope this helps.

Your best bet, if youre in the area, is to hit up a local Borders and check the "all things local" section. They have tons of great books about Chicago, the burbs, and Illinois.
