Let’s get down to the brass tacks, shall we?

If ‘adjusting for demographics’ means ignoring a huge educationally underserved portion of the 3 million Hispanic students in TX, well, ‘Houston, we have a problem’.

Not a caricature , I have spent enough time in stated cities to stand by my opinions and observations

You guys run with different crowds, are different ages and have experienced different aspects of TX as a whole.
Nothing to see here.

With regards to the subject of the thread, unless one is a member of the 'underserved portion of the 3 million Hispanic students' , then their experience is not very relevant, unless we are talking about the solvency of the solvency of the system as a whole (in which cast Illinois is not going to come off too well). What is relevant is the reader's current experience versus projected experience.

Average wage/VS COL is horrible. The HORRIFIC Heat, No culture, One sided Redneck" entertainment, Traffic (Seems 1000X worse than Chicago). On the positive side with all the people coming in from all over the US, The "Country vibe" is changing a little. But hearing about Jesus, Football and if I want to go hunting all the time gets VERY old.

If better $$$opportunities $$ ever come my way, Denver, Seattle or San Francisco are my top cities to move to.
Agree that it largely depends on the crowd you fall in with. Cost of living has gone up, but to compare it unfavorably to Denver, Seattle and San Francisco leads me to believe that you are not very experienced with other areas of the country.

Complaining about crime but then saying you'd rather stay in Chicago... perhaps you don't know about the crime in Chicago.
