Hey Guys...and Gals...

First up kudos to all the contributors of city-data, your insights have really been helpful in the past. I'm going to move to the northwest suburbs in a few weeks now and local intelligence through the auspices of this forum has been invaluable.

I was checking out this apartment - Spring Grove Apartments (170 Golfview Ln.) in C'ville. I've read the other posts on city-data about Carpentersville in general but would like to know from anyone who has lived in Spring Grove or in the vicinity about how this particular neighborhood is. I did a search but couldn't find any personal opinions on apartmentratings and elsewhere.

The reason I'm considering Spring Grove in C'ville is that it is really close to where I work (< 5 miles) and pretty affordable even while the condos offer reasonable amenities. Oh! and I'm in my mid-20's and single - so no need to worry about schools for the moment - but I do care about safety and a general sense of security!

Any insight would be welcome since I'm not from the area (I'm moving from Iowa) and I'm looking to rent for a while to get a feel for the neighboring suburbs first.

Thanks a bunch,

Zee.

Carpentersville is pretty rough for the most part. Lots of gang activity and bad things happening. Spring Grove is on Golfview where there bad things are constantly happening. I live in Hampshire and worked in the ER in Elgin for quite some time before becoming a stay at home mom. I would not recommend a single girl living there. I know it is a bit further but I would check out places in Algonquin or Lake in the Hills.

Lot's of problems in that area. Been that way for many years. It's a shame with the surrounding areas being so nice.

If you are up for driving about 25 min to work - I would check out apartments in Hampshire. We are a nice town. Quiet, safe. You could get a 2 br 1 bath on the first floor for I think 6 something. Nice area, nice neighbors ( my father in law just moved out of the apt to move out of the area and I think his apt is still vacant). Pm me if you are interested. I do not own the place or anything so I am not advertising.
