I moved to Chicago from Minneapolis about a month ago. I've got upper deck tickets with three friends to one of the Twins/Sox games next week. Is it safe for the two of us from Minnesota to wear our Twins gear? I don't care about some heckling, but if we're getting beer poured on us and/or punched in the face all night, it kinda puts a damper on the evening.

Thanks in advance.

Ummm... yeah, you'll probably get a beer shower or two at the very least. Not to degrade my fellow Sox fans, but every time there is trouble at the Cell its some butt head in the upper tank causing it.

Hell, I got beer thrown on me at the AAA Ballpark on the north side for wearing my AJ jersey a few months back.

It's really a shame to see how trashy Chicago has become.

I remember when the disgusting Cubs fans were the trashiest thing in town, starting this practice whereby half the bleachers would yell at the other half of the bleachers "right field sucks," and that section would respond with the opposite.

Everyone knew Cubs fans were scum and low class, so we never expected that lowbrow behaviour to spill over to other facilities.

I'm sorry Sox fans have stooped to that level.

Sure enough, only took 25 minutes before the Cubs-bashing came out in a Sox thread. It's getting all too predictable any more.

About as predictable as you running into any thread about the Sox to see if your Cubs were horribly maligned.

As far as the Twins gear goes, I think if you're respectful, you might get some catcalls, but that's it. Yes, there are some idiots out there, as there is at any park, but as I said, if you're respectful you should be okay. In my experience though, Twins fans don't tend to be the most respectful when they're here. Have fun, and I hope the Sox sweep the Twins.

How about just leaving the Twins' outfit at home?? You really need to wear the uniform to support your team?

I agree with Mappy. I've seen loads of Twins fans at Sox games and haven't seen anyone take any crap just for wearing Twins gear. I have seen a fight break out, but both parties involved in that were pretty drunk and obnoxious. It took them about 2 hours of insulting each other to get to the point where it came to blows.

I agree all night is a little extreme. How about punched in the face a couple of times? Does that work?

And beers at the Cell are too expensive now so I wouldn't worry about that aspect. For $7 bucks, I'm not pouring a drop on anyone!

Yep just like clockwork.

Seriously, its perfectly OK to wear Twins gear to USCF; their fans usually turn out in pretty big numbers and you'll see them everywhere at the game. I've never known them to be troublemakers. Just don't be one of those people who show up decked out in the garb of another team that's not even playing there that day and root against the home team (not just at USCF; that's a good rule to follow anywhere. No one wants to see, say, a guy in a Boston jersey acting like a jerk at a Cardinals / Dodgers game for example). That's just rude.
