They did the foot work the Chicago papers refuse(d) to do. The Chicago papers lick Rahm's boots.

"This week, a Chicago mayoral candidate and opponent of Rahm Emanuel, a successful businessman named Tom Hanson, was removed from the ballot. Why? Because the City of Chicago lost his Statement of Economic Interest."

"All of a sudden Chicago Democrats are crying foul against petition challenges when both Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel have used them to undermine their opponents. President Obama forced his then-rival for Illinois state senate Alice Palmer (who had endorsed Obama as her successor) off the ballot in 1995. Emanuel challenged his sole opponent in the 2004 Democrat primary, Mark A. Fredrickson, off the ballot claiming he started gathering signatures too early. Emanuel’s challenge failed. Hypocrisy aside, you can now hear Rahm "Dead Fish" Emanuel whining from practically every street corner in Chicago looking for the sympathy vote."

I would not be so eager to play the 'hypocrite' card.

Washington Times? Kind of like saying Fox News and the rest of News Corp is fair and balanced

Fox News is about as balanced as MSNBC. At least they don't pretend to be balanced like CNN, NBC, ABC, or CBS.

The Washington Times did not report anything that was not true in this story.

It mentions 'petition challenge' and Barack Obama but fails to specify that Obama never challenged a candidate's residency. Alice Palmer just did not have enough good signatures, a major failing. By this omission of a crucial difference in the occasions the paper creates a false tone for the story. So it stages a false dichotomy between two different situations. In other words, the comparison is not true.

But, you can call it true if you are not attentive to details.

The point of the story is to show how "the machine" gets rid of unwanted and unapproved candidates from the ballot, but when one of their "chosen ones" like Rahm get challenged (and there is some validity behind the challenge) there is great outrage by the establishment, the machine, the newspapers, and people like you.

Well, the fallacy is that Obama was not part of the 'machine' but more in the independent category. Folks outside of Chicago rarely comment accurately on the politics here. If they said the word 'machine' in the last 10 years, their comments were usually inaccurate.
