I've never been one for pride in where they live.

IMO, pride is something you have about personal accomplishments like a successful career or something else you've accomplish. Not a place.

With that being said, I always say my adopted hometown is Chicago. Very seldom I would say I from Illinois. Saying your from Chicago aligns with urban or a sophisticated lifestyle. Illinois just doesn't give enough detail because the state is so big.

Are you proud to be from Illinois or is it irrelavant to you? When someone says their from Illinois is it kind of a replacement for the Chicago area or do you actually think of the entire stte?

Being from Chicago is nothing to be proud of... Go anywhere in the country and tell someone you're from chicago and they will have an immediate negative opinion of you...

Most people call it ****cago for a reason..

Most of Illinois lives in Chicagoland, that's why people here dont typically stress being from Illinois so much. Like our area is 3/4 of the state's population, if Illinois had wider population dispersion you'd hear people be more vocal about it. When I go out of town, I claim the Southside more than I do "Illinois" because that's a more distinct identity. Being a Southsider and a Chicagoan is just a more recognizable. Not that Im not proud of Illinois, but being a Southsider and a Chicagoan is closer to my heart.

They will have the same reaction if you say you are from L.A. or NYC. Who cares? Most of them wish they could live in one of the big 3 instead of the little crappy boring ass places they live in. You think somebody from Craphole, KY or Wheatbore, KS or Opensewer, MS is going to look down their nose at me? I don't think so! If you live in the big 3, you are somebody. Not just anybody can live in the big 3. It is a privilege to live in the big 3. Like to visit places but don't want to live anywhere that Dominoes is the best pizza in town!

Ever think people live where they do because they want to? Not everyone is clamoring to live in cities. Why do you think most people want to live in the big 3? Give me an answer to this question.

If you live in the big 3 you are somebody? What the **** are you talking about? All those folks in SF and DC, etc. are all nobodies I guess.

Im from a city of 60,000, and Dominoes knows better than to be here. We are pizza elitists ourselves since its extremely Italian here, but I still fail to see how this even remotely makes any sense anyway in determining superiority.

Probably one of the worst things ive ever read on the internet.

You're lying if you think people want to live in a small place. I go to college in a small town, everybody from Chicago including myself who comes out here cant wait to get the hell out. It's so boring in this place, that it EVEN MAKES ME MISS THE CITY SLUMS. Now that's boring. You cant match city life, people can pretend all they want. The life of a Southsider or a Chicagoan in general cant be duplicated in a small place.

Im lying? Huh??? There arent people out there that would prefer someplace quaint? What are some of you folks on on this site?

Im a big city person, but I also realize that people have preferences, and not everyone wants to live in big cities either. To think otherwise is simply put, ignorant and stupid. People not living in the big 3 are also doing so because of conscious choices. This is an NYC mentality. Everyone wants your life.............. "No."

Do you think every single person living in Phoenix or around Colorado are clamoring to live in the big 3? Which is funny considering the amount of people that actually come from the big 3 that live in Phoenix or Colorado...

I was born and raised in Illinois as were my parents and their parents. It's a fact of life, not a death sentence.
