Hmmm so does it make it hard to conceal?

Exaggerated in the sense it gets hyped by the media, no, it does happen
Exaggerated in that every block is a warzone, yes as there are plenty of safe areas. It's no different than any other major us city. It has good sreas, bad areas and so so areas.

This is true of almost ALL big cities.

it's called weapons smuggling. Just because something is banned somewhere doesn't mean you can't get it. Drugs are banned in the US yet millions of pounds of it are smuggled in every year from other countries.
Exactly, and that is why I am against any kind of hand gun ban, and am pro concealed carry, because the criminals will smuggle them in (like they do heroin or meth, or will just manufacture them illegally etc), while law abiding folks wont have any ability whatsoever to defend themselves against home invasions, car jackings etc. Not that most people would carry, but having the ability to carry does create a situation where criminals think twice about committing crimes.

If any records are going to be broken this year, it will be for the lowest number of homicides.

Quote:
Department statistics showed homicides in April fell sharply from a year earlier to 24, the lowest level since 1962, yet the spate of shootings Tuesday night drew the attention of the news media.

The homicide total for the first four months of 2013 was just as encouraging as April’s total. The city recorded fewer than 100 homicides through April for the first time since 1963, the department said.
