Word through the Chicago Recycling Coalition is that the Tribune is feeling the heat due to a class-action lawsuit filed by 25 Logan Square residents.

If you want to get rid of these abominations against man and god, here's the scoop:

...you said you thought it would be helpful if there was someone with the Chicago Tribune here in Chicago that these folks could contact to request that delivery of Tribune products be stopped. If you receive inquiries about how to stop delivery, you should refer them to Ron Buss, Operations Manager at the Chicago Tribune. Ron will see that the stop is executed immediately. Ron's telephone number is 312-222-2928 and his email is rbuss@tribune.com.

I suspect Ron is going to have extremely full email and voice mail accounts come Tuesday, so I hope he enjoys the long weekend.

This makes my weekend, but I have grave doubts as to its potential effectiveness. I know for Hoy at least, a family comes to our block with a pickup truck full of them, and they just toss several over the fence at each apartment building. They don't have a route book or anything like that. Maybe in a neighborhood with more single-family dwellings you could get it to stick, but a building with 15 apartments?

BTW, this Trib article just has a generic contact number / email addy:

We understand the frustration felt by some who wish to opt out, and we are revisiting that process in order to improve the customer experience. If a resident wishes to stop delivery, please call 1-800-TRIBUNE or email triblocalvalues@tribune.com.

Totally agreed on all counts. They need to clean up their act both in the customer service and the actual delivery departments. What kills me is how completely ineffectual and inefficient this whole operation is. If anything they are just alienating people from their product.
