I'll just do some bullet points:

-I'm 17 years old, turning 18 on the 28th, do I NEED any sort of parental involvement in getting my first I
ID?

-Where do I go to get my first State ID? I've checked the websites of the DMV on Diversey and the DMV on State and neither issue 1st Time ID Cards.

-What should I bring to be most safe in getting my ID (SS Card, Mail with my name on it, etc)?

If you are turning 18, you do not need your parents. You will need to bring 3 forms of id, birth cert, and such. Check with the DMV for the acceptable forms of id to bring with you. Then go to your nearest DMV. Make sure you look your best, cause it will show on your pix good or bad. (Bad hair really stands out. LOL) They all will issue an ID.

You need your social security card. If you don't have a social security number, you would need to apply for that. You need more than your birth certificate for that as well.

Learn what documents you need to get a Social Security Card

If you had a social security card that was lost or that your parents have in safekeeping, ask them for it or replace it.

https://faq.ssa.gov/link/portal/3401...y-number-card?

If you have an employee or student id card that might work as well for one of the documents.
