I always love visiting Chicago and there are lots to do but the murders and crime the past few years have gotten worse. I wonder why nobody is doing anything about it. Here is the latest.

At Least 8 Dead, 44 Wounded In Weekend Shootings « CBS Chicago

Don't know if I be back this summer to check out a ball game.

If you think things have gotten worse in the past few years, you weren't paying attention in the previous years.

The crime has NOT gotten worse. Would you like me to send you research done by a professor at Yale showing the opposite? Also, Chicago is a big city and yes it has problems, but if you've been here before and recently, you'd know that most serious crime happens only in certain areas and away from bad areas. In fact, over 75% of all homicides happened in areas where only 30-33% of people lived.

There's nearly 3 million people in Chicago, and most have never seen serious crime. If you can't recognize any of this, then you shouldn't be visiting a city.

The crime hasn't gotten worse. Just the obsessive coverage of it...

You're right, nobody is doing anything about it. Mod cut: Off topic.

This basically makes me think you know nothing of the city, and obviously nothing of its past if you actually think crime is getting worse.

I had lunch in West Garfield park last week. No bullet holes.

Violent crime in Chicago peaked in the early 1990's. It has pretty much declined steadily since, with a slight spike in 2012 that saw truly disproportionate amount of media attention.

Mod cut: Off topic.

I've heard the Ricketts have petitioned the Commission on Chicago Landmarks to re-name Wrigley Field "Murder Park" to more accurately reflect the bloodshed so commonly visited upon out-of-towners who come to town for a game.
