is there any debate as to why the CPS is crap?

This union is telling its members that instead of doing the job you were hired to do, you should throw a temper tantrum by not showing up for work.
If I (or people in most jobs) did this, they'd be fired on the spot.
Not going to win too much sympathy for your cause by inconveniencing everyone else. Sort of like blm.

As I said, we need someone with balls like President Reagan. Either get back to work or you are fired, and you will never work for the state of Illinois/City of Chicago again. Considering what teachers in Chicago are paid (70-75k average plus pension plus benefits) if they start posting job ads for teachers even for less pay and benefits they will have a tsunami of resumes thrown at them.

Isn't it funny that all you hear these teachers say is that "It's for the kids", yet every strike/protest is about their salaries and benefits ? You never hear them say 'raise taxes so the kids can have new books or supplies, etc.'. It is and always will be about them and not the kids.

As far a firing the whole bunch of them, I believe there is a law in IL. that you can't collectively fire union members and dissolve the union. Their democrat friends made sure of that.

Legally, the union is ONLY allowed to strike over issues of money/pay, not things like better supplies for kids.

I am so happy to hear that, I didn't think that most teachers would be in agreement with something like this. This is not the way to do it. Thanks for posting.

Funny, I've been reading comments on over sites like DNAInfo and have read similar comments from other CPS teachers, that they don't want to strike. Heard some teachers talking about it negatively at the school near my house. And yet, it seems like the union doesn't care and is going forward with this. Strange. I for one am past tired of the antics of CTU and I don't even have kids (the last strike cemented my vow to not have any kids in the CPS system).

Then why don't you stand up to the thugs union leaders and go to work on April 1st? Seriously, I've encountered Chicago union thuggery before and workers need to stand up to it. I find it very revealing that the union as a whole was not allowed to vote on this. It went only to the house of delegates. Why not let the union as a whole vote on it?

It will be very disruptive to working families and people are sick of CTU shutting down the schools every time they have a tantrum or demand more money/benefits from a city that is de-facto bankrupt.
