Chicago does have one thing that Phoenix doesn't have: Rain

FYI: If your employer really does have a 1-hour rule for getting to either airport then you might not want to live in the city at all. The commute to o'hare out of the city can be 1.5 hours when traffic is bad. I'm sure the same can apply to midway but I don't know for sure.

So your employer expects you to be at the airport at the drop of a hat? Sounds crazy.

What about CTA, does it also take that long?

I'm hoping to find a place so that I can get on the direct CTA line to both Mdw and Ord.

Longer to Ohare than to Midway from downtown

45 minutes on the Blue Line, 25 minutes on the Orange Line. That does not count getting from the terminal to where you are going in the airport terminal.

Does your employer who expects you to be able to be at one airport or the other in no more than an hour's notice even live around here, and do they understand what a tall order that can be? It's easy enough to get to one or the other on an hour's notice... but both? That's not reasonable.

I thought flight attendants are typically given a minimum of two hours' notice. What exactly is it you'll be doing that requires you to be there even quicker than that?

Thanks Nana053, That should be doable, as long as I don't have to transfer. So Blue line is a must.

Are there any other neighborhoods on the Blue line I should consider?

That does not get you to Midway. You said you might need to be at either airport, which I don't quite understand.

Also, that is not counting getting to the train *or* from the train.

Do you understand that the two airports are quite far apart? Does your employer understand that?

I will be working primarity at O'hare so that's more of a priority.

Ideally I'd like to find a place right next to the CTA station, that way if I work until late at night I won't have to worry about walking on the street from the station to my apartment.
