Hey guys,

I a moving to the states in January for a job in Aurora and I am currently looking for apartments.

Can anyone suggest a nice area with a young scene with rent at most being 900$?

I thought i would look away from downtown since the commute would be too long.

Thank you

Naperville would be the closest to have entertainment for young adults.

If you're going to work in aurora, I would NOT suggest living in the city. That is like a 40 mile commute each way, and with traffic, forget about it. Definitely find one of the suburbs out that way. Naperville is nice, but I don't know much about suburbs and the cost of housing out there.

The only way to really do this would be if your job is near a Metra (commuter rail) stop and/or they provide bus shuttle service between a metra stop and office. Aurora is far out there and driving there would probably make you kill yourself everyday. Otherwise, I agree with the others that you'd probably have to live in the suburbs, which are quite different than the city for the areas you want to live in.

Take it from someone who lives in the City and works in Aurora - you should live in Aurora.

The commute is terrible. Because I do not live close to Union Station, the Metra is out of the question for me. Driving is slowly killing my soul. There is a nice high rise in downtown Aurora where rents are comfortably under $1k.

a long commute will make you want to kill yourself. my previous job had me driving from the south side of chicago (55th street) to des plaines 4 days a week. I used to work one day a week at home.

and 2 days of those 4 I would take public transportation, but it involved taking the red line to the purple line (if it was at belmont) to the yellow line, and then a bus to my office from the skokie yellow line station. it was about 90 mintes each way and overall a HORRIBLE experience. driving wasn't much better as it only saved me 15 minutes while being more costly due to high gas prices at the time. so many jobs are near ohare, but having to commute to the ohare area from the other side of town was no picnic.
