I disagree... I think a good number of the peers have lived in the city, or went to college in the city, or spent their 20s in the city, and/or regularly visit their aunts/cousins/friends in the city, maybe even still own a condo in the city, etc...

They have moved to a place like Libertyville because they want to raise their kids where there are good schools, safety, kids can walk/bike to school/friends, etc... I know many, many people who live in Libertyville - it is a town filled with educated professionals, many of whom have lived in the city at some point. This area is not as sheltered as you think, though it is definitely mainly a "family" town.

Thanks again for the suggestions and insight. We will be spending a week in Chicago next month and will explore many of these options. Focus will likely be on Edison Park, Irving Park and Albany Park.
