I looked up all our tickets we received in the 5 year we been here. Maybe 17 all together! 12 of them are street cleaning. 2 tickets for running a red light. 2 ticket for illegal parking. 1 ticket because my husband was talking on phone while driving. 1 ticket for no plate sticker( somebody stole them, peeled it off our licence plate.

you wont get pulled over but you'll get tickets just keep an eye out for signs esp when parking downtown, stupid things like food truck parking and street cleaning notices. and if its late afternoon and nobody is parked along a stretch of street downtown you probably cant park there

In my experience it's nearly impossible to get pulled over in chicago. Red light/speeding cameras are another story though. I drove with my rear brake light out for months and even had multiple cops driving behind me who never pulled me over. I commuted out to the suburbs for work for 3 years and the one time I was pulled over was in the suburbs.

Most of the time you are just sitting in stop/go traffic and its pretty hard to do much to get pulled over anyway.

OP,

Illinois is the only place I've lived where there were so many city/village stickers required and there are so many red light cameras. It's all about milking the tax payer.
Big part of why people are fleeing Chicago and the whole state for that matter more than other in the country

Over 10 years for me and never pulled over once. I don't find the CPS to be too concerned with minor traffic violations (or even hard core speeding, for that matter). There has to practically be the threat of murder going on for them to even get out of their cars. I'm far more likely to be pulled over in a small town or out on the highway.

The meter maids are another story, though. I probably average one parking ticket every 2-3 months (some legitimate and some not), and I've been towed twice from my own neighborhood for not knowing they were clearing the streets for some festival or another. It's still cheaper than renting a private parking space, though. I just consider it part of the cost of keeping a car in the city.

Mine too. I've been here 16 years, never once been pulled over. Husband has been here 10 years - never once pulled over. My friends and coworkers, never once did any of them ever say anything about being pulled over.

I suppose location and race has a lot to do with it, but in my nearly two decades here I've found it's almost impossible to get pulled over in Chicago.

I don't own a car and haven't since 1999, but I still drive fairly regularly with Zipcar. The one and only time I was ever pulled over in Chicago was when driving a friends' car with expired stickers.

I got a ticket when I first moved back to the city 2 years ago and missed the signs about street cleaning and I got a speeding ticket in one of those automated camera zones. Now I know that's a speed trap and will avoid that stretch.

Well, I guess I pissed off a leprechaun or something ?? Cause CPD has flashed it's blues on me many times !!

NW burbs like Niles, Skokie are pretty bad as well !! Got pulled over for "Tinted front windows" in Niles years ago !! No ticket just a bored cop "snooping" around to see if I had any drugs/weapons or warrants :/

Well you should have lead with that! Of course you're going to get pulled over a lot if you have tinted windows.
