I wouldn't trust either to lead a pack of Cub Scouts across a one way street as they'd find ways to graft something for themselves and their cronies while injecting a heavy dose of patronage and nepotism.

Both have destroyed the city to the point where it will take decades to recover if it ever can.

One of the rules when you're in a ditch is to stop digging.

Agreed. They should also consider gangs to be domestic terrorists, which is which they are.

The reputation of this city worldwide is pathetic thanks to him. The fact that the population drops every year here more than any other place in America is an embarrassment. The fact that people in parts of Chicago that used to be safe where they have lived their whole lives keep saying on the news that they are leaving the city now as it is so unsafe as rahm took cops out of these areas and put them on the south side is disgusting. And oh yeah like that has helped the crime on the south side!

And instead of working on the crime issue which the whole world knows about and hears about each day all he does is talk about protecting ILLEGAL Immigrants instead of protecting the legal citizens. And as others have brought up how he throws the police under the bus.

And lets not forget about the bag tax!
You're taking all the problems and ills of the city and using Rahm as your scapegoat. He doesn't physically control every single thing that happens in the city and he wasn't here for the decades and decades before when all this was set up to fall. There are 2,700,000 other private citizens out there calling their own shots as well.

he is the Mayor the other people are not. I promise you the citizens of this city are not the ones who created a bag tax. They also are not the ones making promises too the illegal immigrants. They also do not like the crime that is going on here.

This city just passed it's 500th fatal shooting in 2017 and Rahm's more concerned about his Amazon deal and making Chicago this nation's premier sanctuary city. I hope Amazon blows off Rahm and he's voted out of office in the next election. Then maybe he'll leave Chicago and go back to DC where all the big time crooks are at. He would feel right at home there.

The entire Daley family is as corrupt as they come. You can trace most of the city's problems to the corrupt operation they ran along with these outrageously powerful and corrupt aldermen. Rahm Emanuel is better by a thousand miles.

Daley for all his faults was able to bring back downtown. I remember as recent as the 80's it was desolate and large swaths of it were run down.

Rahm has continued Daley's vision of investing heavily in the core, which was needed in the 90's and 2000's.

However I think the time has come to now focus on the neighborhoods, areas outside of downtown and I don't think Rahm is the person for that job. There has to be a balance, it's bad when you focus majority of your resources on a handful of areas while ignoring the rest of the city.
