Living in the Loop would be SO weird! When I worked downtown, some of my coworkers lived in the Sloop and they liked it. It was close to work at least. And like one previous commenter said, most people living there are singles who work downtown. It doesn't seem like a place where anyone would like to "settle down."

I used to live in Printer's Row. There were actually a lot of older folks and new families around our neighborhood, and a good amount of Columbia students.

As an urban photographer, a Loop-area highrise with a good view would certainly have its upsides. It's not where I'm going to be in the near future, but it might happen one day.

Aside from affordability factors, I think I would prefer to transition to Chicago life in a more traditional neighborhood for now anyway.

Live in the South Loop now( moving soon) and very happy. Easy to get anywhere. I work up my Water Tower place- just hop on the red line and I am there. Have the Jewel and Trader Joe’s at Roosevelt. All the concerts in Millennium Park in the summer. Art Institute. I go to church in the South Loop and that has helped with community feeling.
