A few years ago it costs $3,000 a month for a 1 bedroom in a new construction high rise in River North name of building is Parc Huron. If you eat and drink out a lot, join a gym, take Uber/Lyft a lot - it really adds up. We cooked at home a lot for health reasons and just used the fitness center in the building.

3000k a month for an1 bedroom. So if a family of 4 wants to live in a 4 bedroom in that building your household income would have to be at least 200k a year.
We just became debt free and making 170 k and we could not afford it by a long shot. Not unless we wanted to spend all our money on mortgage or rent.

hell, you'd be comfortable with half that income in those places. But then again, there are obvious tradeoffs.

Way not true. $120k is not like a queen in the upscale suburban areas of Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. Perhaps a drag queen?

I’m assuming you are single with no kids. Do you have student debt? Also, will you have a car? Parking spots are rented separately and can add a huge cost to your monthly rent. It’s hard to say how comfortably you can live without knowing much about your lifestyle, but if you are single and don’t have debt, you can rent a pretty nice studio or one bedroom in a good building downtown. It WON’T be one of the best buildings, but the if you are normal person who doesn’t need complete luxury, you should fine something nice enough downtown.

That being said, no doubt your money will go much further here than Manhattan. Again, you will not be able to live a life with absolute luxury, but you can be perfectly comfortable.

What are the best high rises in Chicago with a River view?
You sound like a true bro.

I don’t think there are a lot of bro neighborhoods left, but maybe look at Wolf Point. That is a good place to be rent poor with other tech bros, and whatever remains of the bottomless mimosa river north brunch crowd gals will prolly be impressed with your staggering river views, in both directions even perhaps.
