I'd develop a sick drug problem and attack people on the streets in my delusions. I'd probably sleep blocking public sidewalks, urinate in bus shelters and creep around in stores to keep warm until security kicks me out. Food will come out of the trash cans on the corners. If that doesn't sustain me I'll just eat the Greenpeace people that hang out along State Street.

My new status symbol will be to see how many winter coats i can collect and wear at once.

I have the security of my mom and dad's $4,000 monthly each pension to keep me going! Can live at home rent and utility free! Also have my aunt. Gotta get my retiring uncle to live in with us too!

Can't depend on a brother who makes $125,000 a year but is in $300,000 debt!

HMMM, hell no, if I owned Daley's couch and had to choose between that and hell, I would still rent Daley's couch out and live in hell

Oh, and as for the homeless thing, I'd probably just crash on Daley's couch.

Default Re: What will you do if the current financial meltdown leaves you homeless in Chicago?

If I ever found myself homeless, no way would I stay in Chicago... I'd head somewhere warmer. Probably scrounge up enough money for a bus ticket and head to California or somewhere... a few years ago while visiting L.A., I noticed quite a few homeless people in Santa Monica near the beach, and I thought to myself, "Hey, if one has to live as a homeless person, this wouldn't be a bad place to do it."

Shhhhh, dont tell anyone else, but Beverly Hills is the best place to be homeless. You can garbage dive designer clothes and get $100 bills hand outs from celebrities. As for the numerous autographs you get? sell them on ebay!

That happens alot of the time which is the reason why San Francisco & Los Angeles have some of the worst homeless problems in the country.

In the east section of downtown Los Angeles they have a makeshift shanty town called Skid Row. I've heard San Francisco referred to as "homeless island" which holds true from what I saw with my own eyes.

Well, since I manage a homeless shelter, I'm sure I could just stay at work.......we have 65 beds, I could grab one

Since RVs are currently about $100, I might buy one and park it illegally. The city would then tow it to Lower Lower Wacker, and I would live there in my impounded RV without a mortgage or rent. What could they do? They would have already towed my vehicle, after all.

Or perhaps I'll order a book on edible plants from Amazon. And I'll start watching Man vs. Wild religiously so I'm prepared for the harsh natural landscape of northern Illinois.

Jam the rest of our stuff into our $80 a month off site storage facility and head South to a warmer climate. Rent a studio somewhere and start over.

Would you register with the city as a homeless person? What is this all about?

lol I would definitely not stick around Chicago homeless.

West, west west.

LA is probably a good place to be homeless, but I like the idea of living in a van life in the Mohave desert. I'm sure the casino's will still be open in Las Vegas.
