Yeah - I was in my backyard and actually heard the shots. First time in quite awhile I've heard shots from my backyard. It sounded like the kid got 2 shots off with a 22 of some sort, then the cop just unloaded on him. There were sirens coming from every direction before the cop had even finished firing.

There has been a rise in activity, but the cops have also been pretty good at keeping it in check. I think this shooting is something that came out of the cops aggressively policing the area, it sounds like they were getting ready to take this guy in for something.
The area around Campbell and Mclean has seen some activity too, and they've been making arrests over there on a regular basis.
Crime for the area is down from last year, 5 or 10 years ago this sort of stuff was happening around here on a regular basis.

From what I've read theres essentially a war right now between 4 gangs fighting over territory, and that area is ground zero.

I shouldt have said "read", it was more a rumor that was passed on. Take it with a grain of salt.
In any case, I don't think its a secret the neighborhood is no walk in the park. I have a co-worker who recently got an apartment in that area and he said he's heard gunshots multiple times.
