I'd have probably checked out the casinos in Elgin or Joliet.

I'll probably get some disagreement here and I would only recommend this to somebody who is really, really, really into casinos big time and that is going to dominate your time away from Wrigley, you may want to consider the one truly "big league" casino here in the area: Pottawatomi in Milwaukee....probably a 1.5 to 2 hr drive from Wrigley if traffic is ok.

This may be another option for you to consider. The Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana, is very nice and has free shuttle buses all over the Chicago area - including Wrigleyville and downtown. You could stay in a nice hotel in Wrigleyville or downtown Chicago (rates are really low right now), take the Red Line subway to and from Wrigley (generally safe, especially on game days) if you stay downtown and take the casino shuttle to and from the Horseshoe - about 35 minutes each way from downtown. I live in downtown Chicago and just did this about a month ago. The buses were very clean and seat about 35 people (at least the one we were on). The casino had a good crowd on the Saturday we were there and had a good time.

The Trib did a brief ranking of all the area casinos a couple months ago. You can check it out through the link below

I prefer Potawatomi and Horseshoe over any casino in Illinois.

I need to pay more attention I drove by that site a month or so ago and had no idea they were building a casino there.

It is funny, I have known about it for a long time, but have not driven by in a long time!
