I don't feel like my freedoms are limited here. On the contrary, I actually feel more liberated here. In Shreveport, LA where I grew up, everything was so small and backward that your future there was very limited. Here, though, I don't feel like there is anything (legal) that I wouldn't have the opportunity to do. Chicago is enabling.
As somebody else who grew up in the south then moved to chicago promptly I feel the exact same sentiments.

I thought rural LA only had about a 4 percent sales tax. Regardless, enjoy your 10.25 sales tax, your 3 percent income tax and keep your guns in Houston. They are illegal in Chicago. And, no, you are never coming back. You will be sucked in forever.

So people should avoid Illinois because they have strict gun laws? Ha, I'm pretty much sure that's a reason why I'd want to live here.

You know, its not illegal to own a gun in Chicago, just certain types.

Also, I don't recall Houston having all that much lower of a crime rate than Chicago.

You cant have any kind of a gun in your residence in Chicago. Whoever owns a gun in Chicago has to have it stored a range or something

Wow, no. Not true. You just can't own a handgun and your rilfe/shotgun has to be registered with the police. (unless the law has gotten more draconian since I registered mine four years ago)

Yeah, you can keep a gun in your house. I brought my old childhood .22 rifle with me when I moved. Registered it with the state and city, which is all you have to do. Rifles and shotguns are perfectly legal to be kept at home. Pistols and automatic weapons are not.

I actually saved money at the Subway sandwich shop in Chicago with the high sales tax compared to the one here in Michigan with our 6% sales tax. I bought the same item in the different states.
