As I read some of the threads started by people that want to move to Chicago the reoccuring theme I see in all of the threads is,......

Chicago winters are: awful,brutal,the worst,unsurviable,etc......"

Folks it's not that bad. Heck it's not even bad at all. Stop crying about the weather. Some of you make it sound as if Chicago has 11 months of the worst winters on the planet. Sometimes I think many of you jump on the weather bandwagon because "it's the thing to say".

Gee-whiz folks let it go. We are all adults, stop crying so darn much your children are watching

You know what? It's April and I still have plastic over my windows. I think I'm entitled to b*#ch about the weather a little.

Yeah...fighting against hyperbole on the internet is a losing battle.

Why are you so defensive about Chicago's winters. They are rough, particularly for people whom have lived in a warm climate for most of their lives.

The winters are horrible in my opinion. However, as I said in another post, summertime in chicago is better than anywhere in the U.S.

You won't hear me complain. Not anymore that is. We moved to Florida 2 years ago to get away from the HORRIBLE, AWFUL, BRUTAL winters. And YES that is what they are. Those that are considering a move.. It was the hardest thing Ive had to do, but we did it in our early 30's while our daughter was only 6 months old. IT CAN BE DONE SO DON'T BE AFRAID! Trust me, you don't realize how awful it really is until you move away--

There are some of us out here, albeit just one or two, who LOVE the seasons with all the extremes and ever changing weather adventures.Forgive the old cliche, but there is no "BAD" weather, only bad clothing choices. I too love florida, but only for about 10 days in feb.

Compared to people in MN, MI, Buffalo, NY, Maine - we have a breeze of a winter. I like having a winter - it kills all the bugs. You can dress for cold, (sorels and a down jacket and thinsulate gloves) but too hot and humid is hard to deal with.
I do hate commuting in the snow though. Driver's brains just shut off - esp. that first snowfall.

Those that complain about the winters can easily buy themselves a one way ticket outta here. If youre miserable during winter, move somewhere else where you can be miserable during summer.
