The Metra is a lot faster. It will take you less than 20 minutes from Clybourne to Davis Street. You just have to figure out which train to catch to get you there on time. If you take the CTA during non-rush hour times, you just take the Red Line to Howard and switch to the Purple Line. There is usually a train waiting there, or if not the wait is generally less than 5 minutes. It's just 4 more stops to Davis.

It was re-routed while the "three-line" track service between Fullerton and Belmont was in effect, to try to improve traffic flow downstream to partially compensate for the bottleneck upstream. When all four tracks re-opened, they went back to having the Purple and Brown line going around the Loop in opposite directions.

I thought it was re-routed because of the Pink Line. I didn't know that they changed it back.

Metra is faster, but if he's going from North and Sedgwick, and can get a Purple line, i'd take the purple line.... because trying to get to the Clybourn Metra from North/Sedgwick would be a big pain, IMHO.

Does the train only run from Linden to Howard, or does it go all the way downtown? The maps make it seem as though it runs downtown, just express. So when it's running express, which stops does it stop at, and which ones does it just fly right past?

I would be riding from North & Sedgwick north to Davis Street.

Thanks!
good luck in getting the job!

That said, the Purple Line is still a pretty good way to go.
Just out of curiosity, how good are the CTA bus connections from the Clybourn state? that station always seems so isolated from the lakefront neighborhoods to the east.

^ You have the Armitage and Ashland buses right there, Damen 4 blocks away... so not great but you can still get to other places from there.
