Just catch a train/bus with a day pass to wherever and explore?

I usually say I'm going to eat somewhere so I won't look that weird...

I have been doing that for longer than you have been alive.

So yes I do.

There are always places to explore no matter how long you have lived here.

Most cities in this country are not large enough for that to be so.

Yeah I do that sometime and explore the city, especially if I have nothing else to do

It depends. I like your analogy though. In many cases it is true.

Myself, I am pretty street smart and when I do my "wandering" it is more exploring with previous knowledge of the areas I am going to beforehand.

I never explore aimlessly however.

I need to take this up again. I used to do that constantly when I would visit before moving here but now that I've been here for a while I am falling into the same familiar patterns. Time to mix things up.

I had an idea that I wanted to photograph the ruins of buildings a few years ago, but I didn't like the looks I was getting in certain neighborhoods with a digital SLR camera around my neck. I don't know how Camilo Jose Vergara has been able to do this for so many years. I do know that he has been threatened several times, however.
