I am noticing almost everybody is recommeding me to move in January or February which by then, the rent will be cheaper, it'll be a new year in a new environment, which will be new beginnings for me, plus I will be dealing with the winters anyway so moving by then shouldn't be a problem. I moved in the winter once (in a small town) when I was going to college and it wasn't so bad. Thanks, Grapico and to all of you all who gave me some great feedback!

Just wait until you have to deal with Chicago streets, expressways, and snow zone parking in Chicago. You will more than likely regret your decision to move during the dead of winter.

I personally moved there at the end of February originally...but changed places before in january as well , wasn't that big of a deal.

The end of Feb. and much of January was weak this year in terms of snowfall.

Honestly, and I don't mean to be a buzz kill, there are far better places to move after collage than Chicago. Right now the economy is bad everywhere, so I would first find a job, then consider location. Chicago is kind of like winning a gold trophy, only to get it home and scratch it and see that just beneath the surface it is made of poor material. Best time to move to Chicago? Never or only out of desperation.
