No where. The only affordable joint is Blue Bayou and it's pretty awful. Fat Willy's on Schubert has a couple Louisiana dishes that are alright.

I miss gator burgers/poppers, shrimp po-boys, crawfish boils and snowballs so much

Oh, I forgot to add Wishbone. They do comfort foods for the most part but they switch out menu items and have good down-home specials once in a while. I've have had wonderful twice baked mac-n-cheese with andouille (sp?) sausage there before and it was decadent.

Heaven on Seven. One on Rush and Ohio, one in Naperville, and the original one at 111 North Wabash, on the 7th floor. Their motto is, everyone who comes back from heaven says the same thing, try the gumbo.

I dunno about that joint, I went to the one on Ohio and the food was so-so and way overpriced. I don't mind overpriced if the chow is good enough.

Best southern coast food I had was at the Cajun Crawfish Hut in Long Beach Ms. The place is run by.....check this out... a Greek from Chicago. They reopened recently after being washed away by Katrina.

Dixie Kitchen in Evanston is pretty good, although it is a bit of a trip to get up there. Luckily I work only a couple blocks away.

I know that McGee's Tavern in Lincoln Park (Sheffield and Webster, I believe) has an annual crawfish boil, though I'm not sure if that means they have cajun fare on the regular menu.

No, your best bet would probably be to roll up your sleeves and learn how to cook your own. You will most likely burn more than a couple attempts at your first roux, but the end results will be more than worth it. I am an avid cook now, and that stems from moving away from Louisiana and not being able to find good cajun food anywhere.
