I think the cap is $275 a week. Not sure if that's the national standard but that was the max benefit in Florida.

In Illinois it's 47% up to a maximum payment of $385 per week (you can get more if you have a non-working spouse or a child)

Sure, there's always bound to be somebody gaming the system. But I know plenty of folks in the professional world who have been out of work for 9 months and a couple who have gone over a year. The jobs just aren't there. The most you can get even with spouse or child is $534 a week, less than $28k a year, so if you're in Chicago that ain't a whole hell of a lot. If you were pulling in 80k and then laid off, things are going to suck considerably until you get a new gig.

Man, I'm just looking for any job.
Factories, Restuarants, Stores, etc.

I've applied at many places... Only gotten an interview at one place.

It's making me depressed... seriously.

The supplement is part of the federal stimulus package.

Yes it is. But it is part of the amount someone can get on unemployment right now.

^ Sucks to hear. I know a number of people personally that are out of work. Do not forget to apply for food stamps. It can save you a few hundred a month. ^

You have to be uber broke to qualify for food stamps now. The state reconfigured the numbers recently and bumped a bunch of people out of the system. I know because I was turned down for benefits Friday after waiting at the office for 6 hours and having to pay $80 for childcare. FML. We are getting by without the food stamps but have basically given up those fruit and vegetable things.
