Does anyone know if this "house" has a name? Is it even a house?? It looks like it could be a Frank Lloyd Wright home, but I did a search and it didn't show anything resembling this structure. It looks like it belongs on another planet! I love it!

I pass it every now and then but never had much time to investigate this odd structure. Just curious.

The cross street is Greenfield, not Greenview. The house was built by an architect who still lives in it.

My wife has an old friend who lives up the street from this place, and he says that they (the neighbors) all call it the "Planet of the Apes House". I love modern architecture, but this one really sticks out in Oak Park in a bad way.

There is a Chicago suburb forum that this thread should be moved to.

Bright Lights Dim Beauty of Chicago: It's Logan's Run Right In Oak Park!
Gah! That thing is fugly. I'm all for letting a man do what he wants with his own property within reason... but if he were my neighbor I'd sure hate him for erecting that eyesore next to me.

Used to have friends that lived in Oak Park. Do I recall correctly that they showed us a Frank Lloyd Wright home? Also recall them showing us the house where Sam Giancana lived and was assasinated.

I remember Oak Park as being a lovely area. This house is a monstrosity and I am surprised there wasn't a neighborhood association that could have stopped the building of this eyesore.

Frank Lloyd Wright lived and practiced in Oak Park for many years, so it has perhaps the best concentrated collection of his houses anywhere in the world. It's basically where he made his name... Until he messed up his reputation by running off to Europe with a married client.

Oh I know his neighbors wanted to strangle him, LOL. It is so ugly. But something like that wouldn't bring down property values would it? Its hideous but its still in a desirable area, right? Wow, talk about when big budget meets bad taste.
