Technically, Scripture does not say we are/were filthy rags. Read carefully:

Isaiah 64:6


6 All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

The very best works we could muster would not come close to the righteousness needed to reunite with God.

What we were was unclean. Jesus' blood washed us white as snow! Now, before God, we are righteous! Jesus loved us in our unclean state, and gave Himself for us.

You may be raised with super parents and grandparents but that's only a filthy rag if you despise John 8:32 today------Isaiah 64:6.

You may be one to fill up buildings and pass out thousands of tracts a week all the time but that's just a filthy rag if you despise God in
2 Cor. 6 and 1 Peter 3:3 today----Isaiah 64:6.

You may be a sought after person for wisdom like Solomon but if you despise 1 Cor. 1:25 that's a filthy rag too---Isaiah 64:6.

You may believe in yourself and have giant faith in God but if you despise
Romans 10:17 to get your faith that's even a filthy rag--Isaiah 64:6.

You may be an expert for so many people but if you despise 1 Cor. 8:2 to be an expert that's just a filthy rag----Isaiah 64:6.

No life really lived out great enough if we despise Matthew 4:4 and don't take it at face value in application.

You may have faith and works and everything else, but without 1 Cor. 13, you've got nothing.
God IS love. He loves sinners, and so must we.
