The purpose of this post is to direct the attention of any believer in the Lord Jesus Christ who is reading this to the importance of having and maintaining positive volition toward Bible doctrine. And with that purpose in view, to present the following study from a knowledgable pastor/teacher who teaches the entire realm of Bible doctrine. The Importance of Positive Volition Towards Bible Doctrine - Doctrines for download - Robert McLaughlin Bible Ministries / Grace Bible Church - bible doctrine truth in Christ Positive volition toward Bible doctrine is an active desire to know God. Without having and maintaining positive volition toward the word of God it is impossible to grow spiritually and fulfill the purpose for which God leaves the believer in this world after having been saved through faith in Christ. Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, ''It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.' ''

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
I hope you'll take the time to read the study.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Knowledge of the bible could never in a millions years produce this, only a new creation.

Thanks Mike. Good Stuff! Though there will be those who mock, there will likewise be many who will take the time to read the study. That's what really matters. Keep up the good work!
GOD IS LOVE. To know God is to Love God. And how does one get to know Him? Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
1 Corinthians 2:
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
One knows God by loving others. Makes sense since God is love. (I'm talking about true biblical love: patience, kindness, forgiving, persevering, protecting, enduring, and never failing!)
That is why God commanded us:
1. Love God above all
2. Love your neighbor as yourself
And as a corollary:
3. Love your enemy.
This is how we know God.
1 John 4
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.
16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
Its all about love. That is what it means to acknowledge Jesus is the Son of God: it means to live in love, and love one another. Its why He commands us to love. Its why love is the most important thing.

So you believe that knowing bible doctrine is more important than love? A greater virtue? Some people can't even read or don't have access to bibles or bible doctine. The Christian life is about a relationship with God, not about doctrine. Doctrine is basically interpretations, and there are too many to count. For example, Mike555 believes you are not required to be sorry for your sins to be saved. That's a unique take on salvation that I had never heard before. So, if bible doctrine is the greatest virtue, whose doctrine? Mike's, yours, or someone else's?
