12When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. 13"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

OK, I need help from a Bible reading Christian...didn't Jesus wash the feet of his disciples? Weren't they instructed to do the same?
yes you are correct, Imho it was a excellent example of Jesus being a "servant-leader". When not one of His disciples was prepared to wash the accumulated dust off the feet of the disciples (even of Jesus), it was Jesus, the Lord of glory, who took up the basin and towel and washed the feet of his friends (John 13:5).
No, because I am not catholic. It's an act of respect for them, just as a man taking off his hat during the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
I don't think I would bother going to see him. I would love to see inside the Vatican, but I would hate having to dress up and cover my head. I would have to buy a hat or shawl.
i dont know where you got this info from??
you dont need to get dressed up to go inside the vatican. you just need to wear long pants and a tee shirt--no tank tops.
I believe the practice of "foot washing" was an example Jesus gave to teach us humbleness, and that no one is above the other in His "Church" we are all ministers to each other..
As a matter of fact, Catholics have a particular mass where we wash one another's feet.
It's an outward sign of humility and service to others.
We all just hope that everyone washed before the service
Yeh, I guess this is O:K. It just would be bad to wash the Pope's feet as he is of high ranking...And idolized by many...This would be a form of Idolotry...But washing everyones feel (Normal people) to show a sign of humbleness seems O:k. :-)
