John 16:12 "I [Jesus] have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13] "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14] "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15] "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
The result: The New Testament.
Regarding Paul's letters which make up the majority of the New Testament, Peter said;
2 Peter 3:15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16] as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17] You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, 18] but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Peter put Paul's letters on a par with the Old Testament Scriptures.
Paul stated that what he taught was not the word of men, but the word of God. Paul both spoke and and set in writing, the word of God.
1 Thess. 2:13 For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us (Paul spoke the gospel to them 1 Thess. 2:2), you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.
The entire Bible, not just the gospel message, is the word of God.
To know what Jesus taught, go to the Bible - both the Old and New Testaments. If you reject what is revealed in God's word, you reject what Jesus taught.
If you claim that you believe something because the Holy Spirit revealed it to you, but it contradicts what the Bible says, you are deceiving yourself.
I believe Jesus taught what He was supposed to while living as a Jew and only teaching to the Nation of Israel to whom He was sent. Paul of course was given the Mystery of the Gospel of Grace. So his teaching was to the Church as we know it today, made up of both Gentiles and Jews. You must not try and mix Law and Grace. As someone once said. All the bible is for us. But not all the Bible is about us.
And one of the over-looked parts is .."But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth ...
That "all" means exactly that... not what false religions claim that there is some then and the need later on for more revealed truth. The Bible is all the truth, not the just the selected ones.

What is Truth but the path of Life that God sets before us. An assent to the bible is not being guided into all the truth.
Jesus Christ would teach us to love God and our fellow man. He would remind us that "inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." He would teach us to live the judgment up to Him, to refrain from bearing false witness against one another, and to be forgiving of one another, even as He forgave us.

This is true. Jesus spoke to Israel of the kingdom which was being offered to Israel. Had Israel believed that Jesus was the Messiah, the kingdom would have been established as soon as Jesus had gone to the cross. He still would have needed to pay for the sins of the world. However, when it it became clear that His message was being rejected by Israel, which He had always known would be the case, He began to shift His focus toward the Church which would be ushered in on the Day of Pentecost. And it was given to Paul to communicate those doctrines which pertain to the Church. As a result of Israel's rejection of Christ, they have been temporarily set aside until the time of the Gentiles has come in. And the kingdom will be established at Christ's Second Advent. You are correct that the Law and Grace are not to be mixed.

Hearing his sayings and doing them is.
The Bible is the word of truth. 2 Tim. 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
Only by accurately handling the word of truth - the word of God, can the believer renovate his thinking as he is commanded to.
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
The believer is commanded to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Those who profess to be believers in Jesus Christ, but reject the authority of God's communicated written word, reject the authority of God. The believer simply cannot grow spiritually when he is in rebellion against God's word.
2 Tim. 3:16All Scripture is inspired (theopneustos; Theo - God, pneustos - breathed; God breathed) by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
The Scriptures originated with the breath of God. Inspiration means that God so superintended the human authors of Scripture, that without waiving their own individual personalities, they composed and recorded without error His revelation to man in the words of the original autographs. This doesn't mean that the Bible was directly dictated by God, though some of it was, but that God the Holy Spirit so guided the human writers of Scripture that the accuracy of what was written was guaranteed.
God the Holy Spirit is the true Mentor. To grow spiritually, the believer must learn, metabolize and apply the word of God under the control of the Spirit - filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18)

Not worth the paper it is written on unless you are a doer of what you hear. Strange that you never once mentioned Christ in you, that if you do not know Jesus Christ in you, you have failed the test( knowing your bible is not knowing Jesus Christ), that the anointing is within us, the kingdom is within us and the sons of God are led by the spirit, that's just for starters.
Grow in the grace of God.................. Not a problem when you know the God of Grace within you
Grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ........ Again not a problem when Jesus Christ in you shares in communion with you His knowledge of the Father.

Do you not know that all three Persons of the Godhead indwell the Church Age believer. I can provide the Scriptural references. Do you not also know that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Because Jesus Christ is God and therefore omnipresent, He indwells every Church Age believer.
The kingdom of God is not within us. The kingdom of God will be established upon the earth when Jesus returns. But that is not the topic of this thread.
And the Bible is more valuable than all the treasures on this earth.
The Holy Spirit only guides the believer based upon the content of Bible doctrine resident in the soul. No believer will ever advance spiritually if he rejects the authority of the Bible.
