except possibly the time of Noah..

Rampant corruption seems everywhere.. How in the world are Christian families protecting their children from the "wiles of the Devil"?.. The radio, TV, pubic school, internet all working to influence one's world view..

Would you say we live in the darkest time of human history?

Drive down the road and see a huge billboard of some porn shop or gentleman's club.. Universities broadcasting the humanist psychological smart person "scientific" perspective working undermine the Biblical account. A culture that feels that building casinos are a viable solution to help the economy while production jobs go elsewhere.

We live in such dark times.. While at times I think I'd like children, I'm actually glad I do not.. I have no idea how I would attempt to protect them from all the filth and pollution of this world actively working to corrupt young minds.

It's so bad I even stopped in for a chat on the Christian Mingle last night (thought I'd check it out)... I suggested people share their testimony of how they received Christ... Some did (mostly me), but amazingly I was shut down and asked not to talk about God. You'd think that on a Christian website Christians would be open to talk about their walk and experience in their walk with God, but believe it or not, this was not the case. Talk about God and the works of God was met with resistance. One poster actually stated I was posting spam << believe it or not.. The conviction hit a couple and they started supporting me, but the end disappointment was the same..

You'd think we have it all.. cars, planes, technology, etc.. but in reality we have NOTHING because we are spiritually bankrupt and have forgotten God. Our eyes are on the material things which will one day be forgotten, and all of this wickedness will come into judgment - just like Sodom Gomorrah.

They were an example to those nations that choose ungodliness, and we are doing the same things.. so Sad

If you think living in an age where our lifespan has virtually doubled in a couple of hundred years, where access to the information housed in hundreds of libraries is a finger-click away, where one can fly around the world in a day or virtually visit anywhere in the world instantaneously is "the darkest time of human history" -- your perspective is way out of whack.

Too bad you missed the Middle Ages. You would have enjoyed having your teeth fall out in your 20s and die of old age in your 40s. That is, of course, if you didn't nick your finger with a knife and die of the ensuring infection - or bump into someone with the Plague.

Sheesh.

Hmmm....

The collapse of the Roman Empire.
The Dark Ages.
The entire 14th century, what with the Black Plague and total chaos.
The schism and the Thirty Years War.
World War I
World War II

And of course, we're just talking about white Europeans here. If you were from anywhere else in the world, your life was incomparably worse in many ways.

No, I'm thinking we're probably living in the best times in human history.

Except maybe 1998. That was a pretty dadgum good year.

Each successive generation seems to perceive that standards of decency, morality and righteousness have slipped further and further away from God's standards. ... IMO, they have! (I read a dissertation a while back that spoke to this declining situation and how corrupt and vile the world seemed ...As I nodded my head in agreement, I read the byline: Plato - 400BC!

Suppose we could chart/graph the world's ‘Standard of Righteousness' against what even the world considers to be 'Absolute moral corruption' on separate timelines. I believe we would vividly see the declining standards in both. In fact, there would probably be instances about every 200-300 years, when the 'Standard of Righteousness' of the current generation, actually declined past the standard of 'Absolute moral corruption' in previous generations. Today is indeed a dark time, … It’s been said, “If God doesn't punish America today, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!”

Today, we are undoubtedly closer to the End Times than any past generation (but, so has every other generation also been). Further, as the End Times approach, we know that Satan will grow exceedingly angry and spew out his hatred and deception on the world. But, let’s also remember that God is NOT surprised about where things are going. --- In this context, our questions should not be, "Are we actually living in the End Times? ... Is this really the final fallen, sinful generation?" --- But, "How does God intend for His people to individually respond ... in this lost and dying world?"

Speak for yourself, Mike. I have PLENTY and I am spiritually rich. I have in no way forgotten God. Furthermore, I am free to worship Him according to the dictates of my own conscience, without fear of reprisal. I am not wealthy by a lot of people's standards, I guess, but I have a standard of living which far, far exceeds that of my contemporaries in past centuries. I can get competent medical care when I'm sick. I can get an education. I am free to speak my mind and follow my heart. I'm sorry your life is so bad. I wish it were as good as mine.

This here previous post was repped with the click of a "mouse" - previous generations would have no idea what I "said".

It's true that we have the means to come to God without the permission of the "Church", living in a country where we are free to make it or break it.

We're blessed.

Want moral darkness? Try a society that allows racism, colonialism, sexism, child labor, grueling poverty, and a host of other ills. That's what existed before the midpoint of the late 20th century. If anything, our moral awareness of our duty to each other is at an all-time historical high.

When our consciousness rises for the good of all people, collectively, there is peace; when it falls, there is war and discontentment.

Seriously? The trifecta of porn, science and casinos are 'darker' than anything that has gone before? History is strewn with countless examples of genocides and wars and natural disasters of almost inconceivably miserable proportions, and you think the fact that we can easily watch a video of two people having sex is worse than the litany of horrors of human history? Or that science is worse? Or that the ease which one can put coins into a slot machine is worse?

Some people only see what they want to see.

Others try to see everything.
