Listing a few things that PAUL said to us women. This is not for the men who know better.

1 Timothy 2:9-15

NO braiding/broiding your hair.
NO gold nor pearls
NO expensive clothes
BE SILENT and don't teach men anything, they already know it all.
REMEMBER, Eve was the guilty one and all women must bear this guilt (of course God said that everyone is responsible for their own guilt/sin)--But PAUL said

1 Corinthians 14:34-35
BE QUIET in church

Of course God has no respect of persons. WHO should we follow. I don't think that Paul wrote 1 Timothy, he knew better and said so in other books.

These are from the gospel of Thomas--a book that many chose to ignore.

Jesus said to them, "When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male will not be male nor the female be female, when you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter [the kingdom]."

Jesus said, "Look, I will guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every female who makes herself male will enter the kingdom of Heaven."

If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest.'"

Paul was no "YES" man, especially with women (if indeed, the scriptures attributed to him are authentic). Do I answer to Paul? No, I don't.

Read the context. The issue with braiding hair, gold/pearls, etc is a guideline. He told the women to "keep it down". The word doesn't mean that they should shut up entirely--but they just shouldn't be causing problems--as they were in that church.

The issue about women holding positions of authority in the church was backed up with his statement about the order of creation and Eve sinning first.

Nice. Don't like what it says? Toss it out!

There is very little evidence that Thomas is actually authentic. Thomas certainly never wrote it. It was a 2nd century forgery.

I'm sorry...but from the beginning, the "Gospel of Thomas" was never accepted. It's not even in the same league as 1 Timothy.

Quoting The Gospel of Thomas. Sheila Renae you constantly surprise me. I think what brother Vizio said about ThGT is pretty solid, though let's say it is what it is. What does it mean?

First of all, you snipped part of it, the important beginning which sets the stage for Jesus's teaching, which, by the way, isn't too far removed from Galatians 3:28, There is neither Jew nor Greek, their is neither slave nor free, there is no male or female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Here's that all important beginning. "Jesus saw some infants who were being suckled. These infants being suckled are like those entering the kingdom. They said to him, "'If we then become children, shall we enter the kingdom?'" From there the narrative you provided proceeds. So, what does it mean? Their are several commentaries which explain it.

Grant and Freedman say, "Infants may be compared to those entering the kingdom. But entering the kingdom means more than becoming childlike. The two must become one; all earthly differences must be obliterated, including, especially those of sex. The unity of believers therefore is based on the NT........This kind of unity looks back to the first creation story in Genesis, where 'man' is male and female; it is the second creation story that sharply differentiates Eve from Adam. Man is not to be man, woman is not to be woman (though according to saying 112 she is to become man-i.e. fully human in a spiritual sense.)"

F.F. Bruce expounds on this when he says, "This is an expansion of the canonical saying: 'whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child, shall not enter it.' But the expansion suggests the abolition of sex distinction; as infants are devoid of sex awareness so should the disciples be."

This requires us to think outside the box. We are taken to a place prior to Adam and Eve being split, to the moment God conceived humankind. This is where Jesus says we need to be to enter the kingdom.

Christians have traditionally accepted the writings of Paul as inspired. If you don't, fine.Moderator cut: delete

But WHY do people accept Paul's writings? There is nothing enlightened or special about them, they do not compare to enlightened thinkers or philosophers...... so WHY?

Well... if you think of Christianity as a philosophy as well, you might see the goodness beyond the author, after all Paul's writings are inspired. What philosopher do you completely and totally agree with? I'd venture to say... none. Who understands "it" all?

Try reading "The Measure of a Man" by Gene A. Getz... puts it in context.

In 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 Paul was discussing women and head and hair coverings and mens hair , and these customs of the Corinth church ..... Then in verse 16 Paul proclaims this this is Not the customs of God and His church from ...``But if any man seems to be contentious , we have no such custom , neither the churches of God ``........See man and his religion of men and the worldly nature came up with customs for man and his ideas , which God did not author ...

If you read Acts 15 you will see it is by the Spirit that we are prompted and led. If we don't know what this means, then there lies the problem and the reason why we tempt God, by putting a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we we are able to bear.

Now ask yourself what that yoke was.

Jesus said MY yoke is easy.
