The smaller or ' minor ' fulfillment of Matthew 24 and Luke 21 came in the year 70 when the Roman armies destroyed un-faithful Jerusalem.
See also Luke 19:43-44; Luke 21:20; Matthew 24:15. That abomination proved to be the Roman armies.
The ' generation ' of our day is connected to the larger or MAJOR fulfillment of Matthew 24 and Luke 21.
The abomination of our day will be when the political/military turns on the corrupted religious world starting with un-faithful Christendom because she claims to follow the God of the Bible but mostly follows church customs or church traditions over Scripture. Adverse judgement will thus start with that un-faithful 'House of God' as per 1st Peter 4:17.
Personally I think religious persecution will start once we find something that appears to suggest mankind and our world was created by something other than God and the way the bible describes it.

Matthew 24 also has Jesus stating this shall all happen in their generation though...thats a tough one to get past.
Even if you try to explain it with the old, 'Gods version of time is different than mans version'...well, in this verse, Jesus was talking to human beings, so naturally he would be referring to a version of time THEY could understand and comprehend. It would be illogical to refer to a version of time only God understood, when his audience was humans.

I think part of the reason why this is not sinking in to many people is they are still believing the "rapture" doctrine as it's been taught, AND are still looking up at the clouds even though the angels said not to. Perhaps these 2 things need to be laid bare for the "soil" to be better prepared to receive seed? Peace

No it isn't Vf6Crusiser, it is written to Gentiles who are the congregation of Gentile believers in that a Jew can stand as a bridegroom as any Jew can stand and redeem Gentiles under the laws of Moses concerning the book of Numbers making a priest a Passover lamb to the prophets making each Jew a Passover lamb that would stand and redeem his own congregation of Gentile believers.
What is written in Matthew 24 is instruction to any Gentile who is trying to become Israel, Israel ALREADY KNOW these things. As a Gentile, when you convert to Judaism you will be persecuted and you will not be accepted by Jew or Gentile because you are chosen to be hated for following the ways of God.

I find there is little interest as to whether God or (?) is involved. People do what they want irregardless of what the Bible really teaches.
It already has taken some time for religious ' waters ' (people) to dry up spiritually as they are today.
I think the United Nations already sees a hauntingly dangerous religious climate brewing in today's world of badness.
Because of ' terrorism ', often in the name of religion, with backing the U.N. can be strengthened to become God's arm of the law to want to abolish religion, to go up against corrupted religion.
As far as extraterrestrials that won't happen because if there was intelligent life out there then there would be No need to first settle the sin issue here on Earth. So, there will Not be intelligent life elsewhere before issues are settled here on Earth. When Adam stole from God's tree then Adam was taking the Law out of God's hands and putting the Law into human hands. Adam set up People Rule as superior to God Rule. Only with the passing of time would show if human rule would establish Peace on Earth. Mankind's history has now proven that men's rule can't bring Peace on Earth.
It is Not an experiment or something else, unless you want to consider the something else as in the challenge Satan challenges all of us at Job 2:4-5 to ' touch our 'flesh ' (loose physical health) and we would Not serve God.
