Can prayers be answered and heard even if we feel we are far away from God?

Unusually when people feel they are so far from God is that is the work of the flesh which are deceptive demons ....Still many people who have repented to Jesus and pray still are saved and go to heaven , ..See it is only when People are baptized in the Holy Spirit when they strive to over come the world and push the world spirits out of their lives , bringing a witness of Jesus Christ ........ One way to get more of the Holy Spirit into Your life is to get Water baptized believing in the baptism of Holy Spirit , and then pray for others through the identity of Jesus Christ , See God is attracted to people who help others for God, instead of just praying for oneself only

I believe the OP mentioned "answered" as well. Is this the case, and can you prove one way or another?

Yes, God loves us and never stops speaking to us. His Spirit is likewise active in the world ... and in 'born again' believers in Jesus Christ, as the indwelling Holy Spirit. God’s provision and response do not depend on our ‘feelings.’

Nevertheless, "hearing and understanding what God is saying" is an entirely different matter, even for those who remain strong in their faith and relationship with God. Those who are distant, often seem to conclude that , 'if they don't get what they have prayed for, God must not be answering their prayers.' --- This simply isn't true!; God instead gives us what we need and what is best for us. But, instead of trusting God's provision, many instead 'pray to God', but, seek and accept only what the world offers.

Matt. 7:9-14 - “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

It is written;

"The Lord hears the prayer of the righteous but He is far from the wicked."

"They shall call upon my name and I will hear them, I will say they are my people and they will say the Lord is my God."

Yes, that is often when our greatest prayers are expressed. During spiritually dry times.

His answer may be to shepherd you back into the fold, putting people in your path or circumstances in your life that will assist. Sometimes it's not pleasant. (think being held in the fire until he can see his reflection in you as a silversmith)

There's always hope.

How you feel and how things are, are 2 different things. God is always right here, right now. In those moments when it doesn’t feel like it is going right, we have to remember that being close to God and inviting Him in, is a decision, not an emotion. There is a feast or day for the Jews when they are commanded to be joyful – I heard that they even danced and pirouetted into the gas chambers on that day.

As a believer in the manifest impact of Spirit and Word I would still maintain that feeling the Holy Spirit is your birthright, as a child of Abba, but you may have to ask for it, by faith, believing that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Getting what one asks for in prayer is secondary to knowing Him. So, "I want to know You more." Is a good start. He will draw near to you.
