16. Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17. But whoso hath the world's goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him? 18. My Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth. (1 John 3:16-18)
If you love just by the word, you love is faraway from perfect love.

Be perfect like God is perfect.
"By your words you'll be justified and by your words you'll be condemned." (Jesus)
"Be Holy for I am Holy." says the LOrd
Psalm 19:7 NRS
"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the Lord are true, making wise the simple;"
"Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness and your law is the truth." (Psalms)
I heard someone say we should have the love of Christ. Unfortunately there are different interpretations of it.
Jesus said He loved His followers as the Father loved Him. He said they are His friends because He made known to them all that he heard from the Father,
That is how to love your neighbor, to let them know the word of God. that is what Jesus was sent to do. To spread the word of God and serve God.
Ultimately that is what God wants for everyone to speak the truth, the word of God, and serve Him.
To love Jesus is to love God. To love Jesus is to keep His word as He kept the Fathers word which was to spread it.
"The man who loves me keeps my word and my Father shall love him and we will come and dwell within him."
Is your version of the love of Christ the same as I have described or something else?
To spread the "word" of God and to "serve" God can be two different ideas.
If we run around shouting chapter and verses every time our SIN-DAR goes off, are we really serving God?
On the other hand, we can serve God by doing for the least of these which then becomes our testimony and therefore our testimony is the word and others may come to know God...
