15. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1 John 2:15-17)

So we should all set out and destroy the world? Or perhaps sit passively by as the world destroys others?

What exactly does "not of this world" look like?

You all should refrain from the joys, and temptation's of this world, because if you live your life's according to the normal way's of this world, the God's word do not find a space on you, and you may end up to fruitless.

7. And other fell amidst the thorns; and the thorns grew with it, and choked it. (Luke 8:7)

14. And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. (Luke 8:14)

What joys would those be?

Well, I've already flunked that this morning. I opened the drapes and saw, in the early morning light, misty clouds hovering over the mountains. Gosh it was beautiful. It brought me so much joy I think I said, "Thank you Jesus." Out loud.

I never have understood the perpetual gloom and doom stuff. God gave me the capacity to find joy and happiness on this earth. Family. Friends. Nature. Music. Art. A wonderful new book to read. Thin Mint cookies. (Yes, I succumb to temptation.) Yay.

If you love the world you do not know God, and if you do not trust me trust the Bible, but if you do not trust even the Bible, then who do you trust, if is not your self, and if it so, you walk according to the flesh, and have not submit your self to the obedience of God.

5. For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6. For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: 7. because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be: 8. and they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:5-8)

Do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Are you saying that family, friends, nature, music, art and cookies are things one can't take joy in if they want to please God?

Sure I do.

You don't know as much as you think you do.

If you live in joys of this world, like the normal man of the world, the God's word do not find the space on you, like parable of the planter also tell's us.

We should love God more, than the our own family according to the flesh, and we should think that the real family of us is the people's who fill the will of God.

I am doomed.

Mikko, do you smile? Do you laugh? Is that what you call lust?
