Would the fact that the two references besides the original had absolutely nothing to do with the point of the original have any bearing on the objection to "slinging scripture?"

The truth you seem unable to grasp, Mike is that NO ONE . . . NOT you nor your mentors . . . have the vaguest idea what the original writers of scripture meant to communicate, period. We can do our best scholarship or we can rely of the unambiguous revelation of Christ that God IS agape love. Using the Spirit of agape love . . . we can test the Spirit of every verse to see if it is of God or Jesus . . . or NOT. Otherwise you are simply fooling yourself and relying on mentors who have no more ability than anyone else to psychically discern what was in the minds of men thousands of years ago. Of course, that would require that you actually BELIEVE the New Covenant that Christ abides with us as the Comforter (sent in His name) to guide us to the truth God has "written in our hearts." You clearly do NOT believe that. You believe in the Bible as the word of God "written in ink". . . NOT Christ as the LIVING Word of God who aides with us.

Matt. 28

The Great Commission

16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

How were the eleven supposed to do the bolded, especially for those of us who lived after them?

The commands were SUMMARIZED to love God and each other every day and repent when we don't. That is fairly straightforward and simple . . . and entirely consistent with the Spirit of agape love who IS God, jimmie. What about that do you not understand???

Oh, your mentor is the devil himself. And contrary to your opinion, what the writers of Scripture wrote is meant to be understood.

And NO, you do not test the Scriptures against agape love. You test everything against Scripture. And stop telling everyone what they do and do not believe.

IF you make the scriptures your God . . . then you would be right. But God is the Spirit of agape love . . . so I use the Spirit of agape love (God) to test the truth of everything. Since God IS Spirit and God IS agape love . . . I like my chances, Mike. Your views actually seem more in line with the Devil you fear.

I don't understand how the eleven were supposed to pass that knowledge forward, without the written word? Everything you know about God came from scripture.

And quit claiming the rest of us are not indwelled by the Spirit of God, because we believe scripture is holy.

I made no such accusations about the indwelling of the Spirit, jimmie. The Spirit of agape love is NOT some mysterious thing. It is literally the essence of God and the attributes we should embrace and display toward others . . . as described in 1 Cor 13. Read them carefully to know what Spirit you are supposed to be of, jimmie. IF you are NOT feeling and exhibiting them . . . you are NOT emulating the Holy Spirit of agape love. If the words "written in ink" do not convey those attributes of the Spirit . . . they are NOT of God or Jesus. The problem is NOT with the need to communicate using the words "written in ink" . . . it is the failure to test the Spirit of the words "written in ink" against the Spirit of agape love who IS God and against what God has "written in our hearts."

one can go back further than that ... the success rate by humanity for keeping true to the truth was not very good till Moses wrote God's Word for others to read.

You advocate a "broken scripture" pov and since God said it cannot be broken (John 10:35) then we know whose fruits are deceptive and\or attempting to deceive.
