Each culture should be expected to represent the Christ as consistent with the characteristics of that culture. What Jesus looked like in fact does not matter.
I'd venture to say that it would be a good thing for each culture to show representations from other cultures to stress the point that Christ is universal.

Wow, great idea. You actually sound like a real Christian
The Nasa JPL renderings of the Shroud of Turin, which is now also being recognized
as the Image of Edessa, is about as real as we're going to get.
Feel free to look it up yourselves.
Does it matter what race Christ was ? Of course not, and it doesn't matter what He
looked like either, although His expressions and the emotions are of great importance,
the Apostles purposely did not describe his physical appearance for the reason that
He transcended the flesh.

It doesn't matter to me either. But I think for a lot of people, it's okay if he were depicted as very European looking, but if here were depicted as very African looking, those same people would have a problem.
Does it bother you that Jesus' image is often that of a European, despite contrary descriptions in the Bible? If not, would you be offended by an African looking Jesus?
No one knows what Jesus looked like, but its worse than you think. In the ot it clearly teaches only the Nazarites( Samson was one)( not Nazarenes=Jesus) were allowed to have long hair-- it was a sin for an Israelite male to have long hair--so in their stupidity of facts and proving their darkness, they have portrayed Jesus as a sinner in front of the eyes of all creation for centuries in their pictures of him. I am 100% confident he is not happy about that.

Seriously? You think Jesus is unhappy about the way he's depicted in art?

There ARE no physical descriptions of Jesus in the New Testament. Was he tall, short, broad-shouldered or skinny, bald, long hair, short hair, brown eyes blue eyes, long nose, short nose, etc. All one can say is that he was Aramaic. That's like saying he was Scandinavian.

Odds are he was in no way a blonde-haired blue-eyed hunk?
