Our church both accepts all people in order to bring them to salvation, and also holds accountable those who profess salvation through Christ. Remove either one of those and the church ceases to be profitable for anyone.

How you hold them accountable is the question.

You try to keep track of people's lives for them? I don't get how you think you can hold people accountable to you. Ask nosy questions? Spy on them? Would never attend a church that believed they were called to hold me accountable to them.

Isn't this the real question as to how we LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS?

ONLY GOD can hold us responsible and it is only GOD that we are accountable to...

And that is why I have said, they are placing themselves in the place of God . . . not a wise thing to do, IMO. We are to love God and each other . . . not judge each other and exact punishment by mistreatment for sins which God is not counting against us.

Why do you believe the Bible says a pastor/elder should shepherd the flock? What does that sound like to you?

Shepherds protect the flock from outside dangers . . . but let them "graze" on their own. Since sheep do NOT have our consciousness, they require more monitoring than humans do. You forget that God wants VOLUNTARY compliance from us. So whenever you force or sanction or shun or otherwise try to enforce compliance . . . you are going AGAINST God's wishes, period.
