The world is a wide gate, and the "way" is a narrow gate. We have a choice... so choose wisely....as mentioned earlier by another poster... the right way.

Mat 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.14 But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

When Jesus returns, the last thing in the world to worry about, is his political party

This is a fatuous question. Jesus was neither left or right. If you HAVE to pigeonhole him, you're not getting the point.

Personally, I think Jesus would be aghast at such a question because he was SPIRITUAL, not POLITICAL.

Render to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.

I'm curious about this:

He would encourage the marriage amendment

What, specifically, in the teachings or actions of Jesus makes you think this? Note, I am not asking why you think the marriage amendment is right, but what evidence you have that Jesus would think it is right.

True, Jesus was spiritual, but he was also very concerned with issues that affect politics--for example, how we treat the poor, the outcast, the other and how we spend our money.

Those things you describe are how we treat each other as humans. One does not even need politics to treat each other well. Actually one does not need politics period in their life at all. If I live my life well and treat others well there is no place for politics in my life at all.

Politics is a vehicle for bringing leaders into power, those leaders exercise power over others.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Jesus is about the individual human finding and living their own power in their own life through connection to Spirit.
This totally bypasses any political system at all.

Ah. We are defining politics very differently.

I look at politics as the method for selecting our governmental leaders, the ones who establish the laws. Laws determine how our government treats those in our society as well as those outside our society. Ideally, our laws would promote justice on a societal level, and I think the teachings of Jesus have a lot to say about what justice means.

I see Jesus as coming to change both individuals and society, and I think his teachings are useful in both contexts.
