So basically you are attempting to reason him away from his faith in Christ. That's when you feel something is "accomplished".

There are lots of Christians on here who have faith in Christ. I don't try to reason anyone out of that.

You are conflating "faith in" with "beliefs about".

If you found out that your precious penal substitutionary atonement doctrine was not true, would it cause you to not have faith in Christ?
