God inspired the Bible. He did not inspire the anonymous Egyptian, or the anonymous pagan of Paul's day.
Have to disagree with you here, as far as *who* He can speak to and through, after all He did speak through a donkey, but He didn't give the donkey instructions for mankind. He also spoke through Caiaphas the High Priest in Jesus's day, it is recorded, and he was behind the plan to kill the Lord. He didn't give him instructions for mankind and lay out His plan of salvation, either, though. Therein, lies the difference. Peace
Once CBS anchor Dan Rather asked Agnes what she said during her prayers. She answered, "I listen." So Dan turned the question, asking, "Well then, what does God say?" She smiled with confidence, answering, "He listens." For an instant Rather didn't know what to say. "And if you don't understand that," Agnes added, "I can't explain it to you.".

..'Tis been quite a number of years since first coming across her assertion,
...though hardly a day I'm not reminded of this simple but profound discipline.
Second of all...if they were translated to Hebrew and put into Proverbs...so what? No. They were not inspired as Egyptian, if that's how they came about, but the writer of those proverbs was inspired to put them into the book of Proverbs. Keep in mind, Paul quoted from Greek philosophers. It doesn't mean the philosophers were inspired, but Paul was when he quoted them.
Maybe because Christians are the only people who would make such an absurd claim.
You didn't even begin to answer my question. But thanks for the response. At least I got you to say what you did.
To me, this is like people who buy "fashion" designer brands just for the label. They might find an equal product in a lesser known brand, or even a *better* product. But since the "fashion" name was promoted to them successfully, and maybe because their grandparents or best friend in college bought the same brand, NO, they refuse to purchase any other brand. In this case, the "fashion" label is the Bible.
They don't even want to know if there is something better.
What is your opinion of these ancient Egyptian proverbs? Some of them were later translated into Hebrew and placed into the Old Testament.
Do you consider that it was the "word of God" even when it was Egyptian in origin, or did it become that later after it's translation? Was it just the "word of man" before it was put into the Old Testament?
How is it not considered "inspired" until later, when it is included in the Bible?[/quote]

love. compassion, and understanding mixed into a heaping pile of commonsense? is a rose still a rose using other words? Be careful how you grab it. Many a helping hand have been left bloodied and scared.
