When Jesus ascended He had walked through walls , He was seen many miles away , He was disappearing and still he had a fish meal with His disciples after the cross .... He probably ascended into heaven with the help of God`s Holy Angels
Miss H said it was okay if I posted a cute Jesus joke;
Three men were out fishing in a boat. One says to the other 2,"There is something out there in the water". The others look close, as it was foggy, it was hard to see, but they both saw it as it came closer. "It's Jesus, he's actually walking on water toward us". As Jesus approached the boat, all three kneeled down and began to cry that they were actually in the presence of Jesus.
Now all 3 men happened to be handicapped. Jesus laid his hand on the top of one mans head and said,"You are blind in one one, you are now healed". The man opened his other eye, and behold, he could see. He kneeled before Jesus and cried.
Jesus said to the second man as he laid his hand on his head, "You are completely deaf in one ear, you can now hear". The man said, "Jesus, you have cured me" and started to cry.
Jesus went to the 3rd man and said,"You are lame". As Jesus began to place his hand on the mans head he said, "Don't touch me, I'm on Disability"!
He was taken away from his original ministry because those of the traditional religions didn't like him. So he returned to the "father" in a sense when they adopted him after his death and turned him into something completely different and supernatural.
Ok, could we turn this more to what took place...I mean...magic isn't magic... it has an explanation...it just seems like magic since some don't know how it took place,
scientifically.
Everything goes back to science and being able to be explained...ok maybe stretching what we don't know exactly yet...but still, the possibility of 'magic', or supernatural events,
can be made comprehensible, at least.
As said, Miracles seem like miracles to those that don't understand how they took place.
Does this group think there is such a thing as matter?
Maybe I'm talking to the wrong group, wouldn't be my first x!
The healing could be seen as miraculous but scientific. The feeding represents what people can do with social justice. But a lot of it was probably allegorical.
I think Jesus walking on water and ascending speaks to the fact that even scientists believe that there are realms or dimensions that we cannot see and observe with our physical eyes. He went to a higher realm. We are bound to an earthly realm and bound by the laws of physics while in our mortal bodies. There is so much going on right next to us that we cannot see!
Two things are said concerning Jesus after his ascension. One is that he sat down at the right hand of the Father, (Ephesians 1:20; Colossians 3:1). The other is what Jesus himself said to his disciples concerning the fact that he was going to prepare a place in his Father's house (a reference to heaven) that where he was they might be (John 14:2-3).
When Jesus walked on water and stilled the wind he was demonstrating his deity. Being God, it was nothing for him to walk on the water and to command the wind to cease. When Jesus identified himself to the frightened disciples in the boat (Mark 6:50), he said, not ''It is I,'' but ἐγώ εἰμι - 'I am.' While ἐγώ εἰμι can be used simply as a means of identifying one's self in a greeting, I believe that just as in John 8:58 where Jesus very obviously made the statement, ''before Abraham was born, I am'' with reference to his pre-existence as deity, he also self-identified as God with his ''I am'' statement in Mark 6:50 because it was within the context of him walking on water and stilling the wind.
You shouldn't attempt to appease atheists by ''erasing'' the miracles that Jesus performed.
But Jesus also tried to show the apostles on the boat at that time, that THEY TOO could walk on water, as long as their faith was strong enough.
Besides that, other times when Jesus did miracles, like raising someone from the dead, he basically says you all CAN do these things too and even much greater things than I did, moving mountains if you want them to move was one, so it may be more than Jesus displaying his power.
