Pretty much like church people in America today. They are so contented they haven't a clue as to what's going on around them or within them.

Only dead fish swim with the current.

READ THE BOOK OF JAMES.

True discipleship means DOING WORKING and ACTING on one's faith - not sitting on pillowed seats in a weekly ceremony that induces spiritual coma.

WAKE UP. GET BUSY while there's still something to do.

Because if you continue to wallow in your "contentment" you will, like the cows afield, eventually be led to slaughter. On that day it will be too late for you, because everybody else will too sleepy to even notice you're gone.

that's me, hollering from the choir loft....
You are describing apathy, not contentment.

Every single sermon at my church has some sort of 'if you're happy with where you're at, you're not being a good Christian' undertone

Then if the "faithful" are happy with where they are at (at that church), they're not being good Christians. Maybe he's got a point after all. LOL

People would rather be corralled by stupidity in a shady group-think environment, than escape it and think / worship on their own.

I personally have no problem with having more and more stuff as long as the stuff doesn't have you, and you are aware that happiness does not come from having stuff.
