Hi everyone,

Just wanted to run a quick post to see if you all have heard of Pastor Melissa Scott. She's the late Dr. Gene Scott's wife. She's Protestant in origin, and she extensively studies Greek, Hebrew, Armaic, French, Spanish, blah blah.

I found her on tv one night and was absolutle blown away by her sermons. She can be a bit hard on the audience when they clap for her (you can tell because she makes them stop and tells them to 'stop' and 'sit down'. heheh)

Anyway, many speak of her badly because she used to be an 'adult entertainment' performer (ok, porn star), but I find it frustrating that she is attacked as she is for what she used to do in her life.

Has anyone seen her sermons? Here in NY they're on at 1 am. No wonder why I can't peel myself out of bed at 8 am!!

I think she's excellent in her explanations of scripture, discussions about meanings of words mentioned in scriptures that may be misunderstood, etc.

If you aren't sure who she is, perhaps click the link to see if you've ever seen her or not. You have to click on Watch Now link to see one of her sermons.

The Official Site of Pastor Scott

Can't get enough of her language interpretations! How cool to watch as she writes in Hebrew and Greek up on the board. It's made me want to buy that Rosetta Stone software that helps you learn a language just so I can learn to write Greek or read it. Some of her sermons will down right blow you away.

My boyfriend told me about her. He loves her. He also said I remind him much of her (and it's not cause of her "colored past" either. hee hee.) (He loves me more than he loves her though. Ha!) lol

Who cares what her past is. We have today and a future and a hope in Jesus. Past counts for nothing... especially any sin. It's all washed away by the blood of Jesus... and we are just as if we had never sinned... in God's eyes... and He's cast our sins into the sea of forgetfulness as far as the East is from the West.

Grace and peace.

I very much enjoy her philological approach to Biblical studies.

I liked Dr. Gene Scott and was sad to hear of his passing a few years ago. Attended a few Sunday-morning sermons when his church was in Glendale in the 80s. One of the things I admired most about Dr. Scott was when he moved to downtown LA's skid row at The Church of the Open Door. Wow, talk about "putting your money where your mouth is."

Pastor Melissa Scott I also enjoy. Hands down she's the only Christian teacher I find worth watching and listening to. But there is a dark side. I've heard some disturbing things about the way she's running the Wescott Christian Center (aka LA University). From what I've read, she's liquidated a lot of the assets Dr. Scott built up and held in regard. As it seems, she managed to get full power of attorney before Dr. Scott died and now rules the Center as a one-woman dictatorship. Evidently, she has ordered a full stop to the airing of Dr. Gene Scott's old sermons. This is too bad because some of them were very, very good, IMO. Anyone remember his teachings about the Great Pyramid of Giza? To some there is also a cloud of suspicion around Dr. Scott's refusal of chemotherapy vis-a-vis Melissa Scott. Who knows?

Another juicy tidbit about Pastor Melissa Scott: she has an alias, as alluded to by grace_explosion -- Barbie Bridges, her former stage name as a 1980s-era porn-star. To me, this isn't a bad thing. It just ads to the originality and spice of her character. You go girl!

I'm thankful that God forgives us of all sins and throws them in the sea of forgetfullness. If we repent and confess them. Thank God that she didn't let her past keep her from what she's doing now. You go girl.

Amen to that!
If a person repents and asks God for forgiveness, what right do we have to examine that persons past under a microscope? (none!) So she was a porn star. She stopped....she repented...that's what matters. All that proves is God is willing to save ANYBODY who will repent. Past sins therefore become irrelevant. (If you think what people did in their former life is important, then maybe you will wonder if the Apostle Paul made it to heaven. After all, he persecuted countless hundreds (if not thousands) of Christians with beatings, stonings, prison, torture, etc, before his conversion)
I'm thinking Melissa Scott will be able to relate to, and reach, certain types of people for the Lord that the average "goody-two-shoes" wouldn't be able to in a zillion years.
Therefore, I say leave her be...let her preach or teach...whoever is lifting up the name of the Lord is not against us, but for us. If some do not like her ministry that is ok, because there is an "off" button on that TV. Or just find another channel. It's like my wife says: "We don't have to like other people, but we do have to love them..."

Bud

Only problem is that God does not approve female "preachers" because Jesus is the head of the church. Leave them be is not love for God word.
