Oh they've had those for a while. I was told that women couldn't be missionaries until they were 21 (guys could be 18), though I'm not sure why, or if that particular rule is still in place.
Why is the age requirement different for men and women? Isn't that sex discrimination?
No answer is gonna satisfy you because I believe this is just another way to put mormons and their beliefs down. It's a shame to say that most people who ask questions like this are doing it as a statement of putdown and not because they are in ernest.
I was told that girls have to wait to be 21 before they go on a mission, because it is hoped that they will get married instead, and produce children. If they reach 21 and still no good prospect of marriage, they are "allowed" to go. The LDS church is primarily a business. The more "customers" the better.
